Stillness Service

The Minister is in Church for half an hour of peace and prayer each Sunday afternoon at 4.30pm... and he invites you to join him as often as you can. It might be that this kind of Service will help folk who are facing any kind of anxiety - especially bereavement. It will also be a time for other folks who simply want to find a place and space for silent prayer in their busy week. It is also a resource for elders to spend time in quiet prayer for the people in their districts. Whoever you are and whatever issues you are facing, this short Service is for you - and you are all most welcome!
Musicians
The Minister would be delighted to hear from anyone connected with the congregation who plays a musical instrument. This is with a view to forming a Praise Ensemble and so that he can plan ahead for future Services.
May Bank Holiday Weekend Away
This year's May Bank Holiday weekend away was to Strathpeffer where 45 of us travelled by coach to our holiday hotel.

Check out more photos of the event in our new Photo Album.
The hotel laid on lots of fun entertainment. We spent Saturday at the late Queen Mother's Castle of Mey, followed by a visit to John o' Groats and on our way home on Monday stopped at Pitlochry for a leisurely lunch break.
One of our party, Anne, celebrated her birthday during the course of the weekend -and we helped her celebrate! We are all very grateful to Isobel for the great job she made of organising this trip ... roll on the next one!
THE SUNDAY CLUB
The Sunday Club meets every Sunday at 11.00am in the Church Hall and everyone is welcome to join us.
Seekers is for children aged 2 and a half to Primary 1. We read stories, sing songs, do crafts, and play with toys.
Explorers is for children from P1 to P3
Adventurers is for children from P4 to P6
Discoverers is for children in P7 and above.
In these sections we aim to learn about the Christian faith in a way that appeals to children and helps them to form their own opinions. We use a variety of fun activities, including DVDs, puzzles, arts and crafts and games.
YOUTH GROUP

The Youth Group meet in the Church Hall from 7.30pm-9.00pm every Monday during school term time.
Entry is £1.00 per week. Everyone from p7 and up would be welcome to join our current group.
Activities include: informal activities and discussions, badminton, table tennis and football. We regularly arrange trips for swimming, laserquest and tenpin bowling.
We have an annual weekend away where we arrange a broad range of activities such as climbing, kayaking, gorge-walking and team-building.
The group meets in the Session house every Monday at 1.30pm and a warm welcome awaits anyone wishing to join us.
We begin with Bible study and discussion followed by a time of prayer focusing on local, personal and world issues.
There is a prayer lunch on the first Monday of the month at 1.00pm.
Several years ago the General Assembly encouraged all congregations to think about the Third World.
In response, St. Columba's formed its World Church Team which has been in existence since 1997.
Since then the team has supported many projects, for example, supporting a leprosy hospital in Nepal for a year.

Our Minister Rev. George Lind

Although the 300th anniversary of the St Columba's Parish Church building was celebrated in 1996, worship on the site dates back to the 13th Century when Kilwinning Abbey had responsibility for the Parish.
St. Columba's is the union of two congregations. Cairns Church united with the Laigh Kirk, as the parish church was then known, in 1961 taking the new name of St. Columba's Parish Church.
Despite the history, we know that the Church is the people and that is what we are all about. Our commitment extends beyond the Church walls to people in their everyday lives - wherever they are in whatever circumstances they find themselves.
St. Columba's is a Parish Church and as such recognises its responsibilities to all who live within the Parish, not only to the members of the congregation.
New Online Photo Album
St. Columba's Parish Church has started to build an online photo album with photos of Church events and activities.
Sunday Services
Services take place every Sunday at 11.00am. During the service there is a creche to take care of the little ones.
Afterwards there is a chance to chat and get to know people over a cup of tea or coffee in the hall. Please come and join us, a warm welcome awaits.
The main Communion Services are on the last Sundays of April and October. We also have a special Communion Service twice a year for those who are unable to sit through a full service. These take place in the hall and are followed by afternoon tea and time for a chat.
