Stewarton - The Artists' Town - 18 Mar 2010
More Art on Display in the Bonnet Toun
Stewarton seems to be becoming a town for artists with art shops, galleries, and potteries. And there is now local artists work on display at Candy Chace, High Street, and Head Quarters, Main Street.
Head Quarters, the hairdresser on Main Street, is now displaying the work of local artist, Mary Steele. Her work includes studies of birds and flowers and a stunning picture of Bamburgh Castle in Northumbria.
At Candy Chace you can see the work of Linette Penney including abstract and fine art works like "Gone Fishin'" and "Dangerous Waters".
Linette Penney's artwork can also be viewed at her studios in Avenue Street (beside Beaver Printing) where her metalwork and handmade cards are also on display.
In Avenue Square you will find the new home of Petherick Pottery and Ceramics. Here you can try your own hand at the art with classes running for children and adults or commission work such as personalised baby plates and other gifts.
Budding and established artists will find a good range of art materials available at Annick Art on Lainshaw Street. In addition to art materials they stock craft materials, cardmaking and scrapbooking materials and a range of children's art and craft packs from Galt. And when you have completed your artwork you can arrange to have it framed at Annick Art too.
