Stewarton Guides Guard of Honour - 09 Jun 2010

The Stewarton Guide Association have been chosen to provide the Guard of Honour for the Corsehill Queen and her court at this year's Bonnet Guild Festival.

And the Guides are delighted to have been asked during their Centenary Year celebrations. Guide leader, Doreen Sharp said: "It is especially nice as it is our centenary year and 3 of the maids this year are also in my guide unit."

The Stewarton Guides are also busy preparing their float for the parade. This year the theme for the parade is 'Flower Power' but the Guides are not letting any secrets slip about their plans - you'll have to look out for them on Saturday 19 June.

The Bonnet Guild Crowning Ceremony takes place in Avenue Square. The entertainment begins at 12.00 noon and the Guard of Honour arrive at 1.15pm. This year's Corsehill Queen, Kaitlin McKie, and her court arrive at 1.30pm.

A full timetable of the coronation, along with details of all the other Bonnet Guild Festival events, photographs and articles can be found in the Bonnet Guild Festival Programme which is currently available in Stewarton shops and in the Bonnet Guild's temporary office in Main Street. You can also view the events online on the Stewartononline Events Page where there is also an 'at a glance' summary of the week's activities.

The Stewarton Guides Association are also busy preparing for a Guide Camp in August which will see the girls trying out canoeing, climbing, raft building and archery at the Scottish Guide Training Centre, Netherurd, Peebles. Don't miss their Coffee Evening on 11 June which aims to raise funds for this trip.
