Your Chance to Make a Difference in Stewarton

There are presently 4 vacancies for Stewarton and District Community Councillors. Candidates must be resident in the Stewarton area, and anybody interested in joining the Community Council is invited to contact the Secretary, via The Resource Centre. The Resource Centre is open from 10am to 12noon Monday to Friday and is currently located at No.5, Avenue Street (the former Institute Hall caretakers flat) Tel: 01560 482775 or 01560 480324.

The Community Council meet on the first Monday of each month. The Community Council continues to raise local issues with the EAC and other relevant authorities. During recent weeks these have included: difficulties in identifying responsible officers and points of contact within the EAC; the proximity of railway boundaries to some local properties; the need for additional speed humps in selected locations, and the removal of some from other locations; dropped pavements for the elderly and infirm; comments on the proposals for the development of the ‘Outer Limits' site and the layout of the Sainsbury's car-park; and a request for an additional pedestrian crossing on the High Street, in the vicinity of the medical centre. The Community Council was also pleased to support a proposal for an additional public car-park in Hamilton Gardens.
