Stewarton Annick (4) v (2) Giffnock SC Milan League 21/8/10

The first 10 minutes of this match was blighted by Williamson falling ill and Cooke his replacement coming off injured. Ronald took over and filled the role superbly.

It was during this period that Giffnock took the lead after some poor defending from the whole of the Stewarton team. This seemed to waken the lads up and constant pressure was applied for the whole of the 1st half but unfortunately no goals were scored.

The second half saw a determined Stewarton team take the initiative with Musuraca and Fraser dominating the midfield play. A free kick from Fraser resulted in an OG. Shortly after and after some excellent work by Nesbitt and Musuraca Kyle Scott netted from inside the box. Stewarton were on the ascendency and after some dogged work by Carruth he was awarded a penalty after being brought down in the box. Although his initial shot was blocked he followed up and rammed it into the net.

At this point Stewarton were playing some good football with every player doing his job. Julyan at sweeper marshalled his defence superbly and produced a fine defensive display that spurred the team on. Giffnock brought another goal back via a fantastic run from deep inside their own half.

Although Stewarton were well in control it took a fantastic near post header by Nesbitt to settle the game. Hard to pick standouts from the whole team but special mentions must go to Julyan, Musuraca, Fraser and Carruth.
