Families and friends of the children of Lainshaw Primary School were, this evening, delighted by a dazzling display which took them in a Yellow Submarine, through the Blue Mountains of Virginia and Somewhere Over a Rainbow. They enjoyed a knees up at The Millhouse and were rescued from an alien threat by the Men in Black.

The first night of this year's Lainshaw Primary School Show, 'Colours', was a great success and had the audience tapping and clapping along with delight. Each of the year groups performed a selection of songs, dances and drama with a colour theme beginning with Yellow for the P1 and P1/2 classes and finishing with Silver and White with the P7 and P6/7 classes.

Every child was a star and there were many highlights. Among the most memorable were the knees up with Mrs Brown at the Millhouse (Primary 4 and Primary 4/5), the loss (and eventual replacement) of a red yo-yo with a wee yellow string (Primary 2/3 and Primary 3), the brave defeat of aliens by the Men in Black of Primary 6 and the Itsy-bitsy-teeny-weeny-yellow-polka-dot-bikini of Primary 1 and Primary 1/2.

The show, produced by Mrs. Lahore, ran very smoothly with the breaks between each scene covered by a selection of rainbow songs and dances. The grand finale which brought the whole school together on the stage was wonderful.

After the show Mrs. Jean Keenan thanked all the teaching and non teaching staff, the children themselves and everyone else who had contributed to the show which will be the last she enjoys as headteacher before she takes early retirement at the end of this term.

The show will be performed again tomorrow night and, if you're quick, you might still be able to buy one of the few remaining tickets.
