Snow White - Oh Yes It Is! - 29 Sep 2009

Christmas is fast approaching and Stewarton Drama Group are delighted to present their 36th annual pantomime - ‘SNOW WHITE', an original pantomime written and directed by Group member Nancy McPherson. The colourful show will be presented in the new Stewarton Area Centre every night at 7.30pm from Tuesday 8th December until Saturday 12th December. In response to audience feedback over the last few years the Group will once again present a matinee performance of the pantomime on Saturday 12th December at 2.00pm, ideally suited for all the youngest panto go-ers.

The cast of 'Snow White' Stewarton Drama Group Panto 2009

This year's show has something for everyone and features a wonderful selection of traditional panto characters guaranteed to keep the audience entertained. This year's Panto Princess, Snow White, is played by Laura McPherson who will need to have her wits about her as she tries to escape from her step-mother and baddie Queen Verrucca (Linda Wilson) who has hatched an evil plan, with a little help from Winklepicker the Wizard (Walter Findlay).

Will King Pimpleheid played by Roy Graham find daughter Snow White a Prince (Morag Smith) or get lost in the forest along the way?

Helping or hindering Snow White's fate are the two layabout palace Guards Tattie & Wattie Carbuncle, played by David Robertson & Jim Goldie, and sweeping them into shape is housekeeper and Dame Clarty Carbuncle (Johnnie McPherson). Lots of laughs are guaranteed courtesy of the comedy escapades of Mincy McSporran the Palace Jester (Brian Smith), Tumshie McTavish the Kitchen Maid (Alison Barr), Senga the Sook the Queen's Maid (Caren McLean) and Growl the Dog (Teri McLaughlan). Flip-Flop the Fairy (Michelle Barnett) provides a benign influence over proceedings and ensures a happy ending.

Important to the whole plot are the Junior Stars who play the loveable Tartan Army Gnomes: Doc, Bashful, Dopey, Happy, Sneezy and Sleepy. They are kept in line by the more senior and very bossy Bossy played by Craig McLaughlan. Protecting Snow White all along are the adorable forest animals.

Under the direction of musical director Ewan Mains and his live band the audience will be treated to a range of specially selected songs, including old favourites such as "Consider Yourself", "Getting To Know You", "Any Dream Will Do", and "500 Miles".

Tickets for the show, priced at £7, and £5 concession, can be reserved NOW by emailing stewartondramagroup@hotmail.co.uk or alternatively, tickets will be on sale every day at Stewarton Library from 1st October. There is also a special block booking offer of Buy 10 Tickets, Get One Free.

A selection of juice and crisps and glo-sticks will be on sale during the interval.
