Kilbarchan Weavers - 27 Apr 2010
The April meeting of the Stewarton & District Historical Society was addressed by Mrs MacLeod from the National Trust for Scotland, who spoke about the history of the village of Kilbarchan, and she then went on to explain how hand weaving was done at the cottage. She showed a sample of a blanket which she had designed and woven for the re-opening of Burns's Corttage.
The next meeting of the Society will be addressed by local man, Mr John Hall, who will be speaking about 'Johnnie Walker's - Past and Present' - a pretty topical subject, and as always anyone interested will be most welcome. There will also be a short AGM before the talk.
The Annual Outing is to Bowhill House near Selkirk on Saturday, 5th June and there are still a few spaces available. Anyone interested in this visit should phone Mrs Johnstone on Stewarton 483635.
