On Friday 26 March Stewarton's Five Alive fundraising team handed over a cheque for £5219.33 to Cancer Research Uk.

Over the last year the team have completed 5k, 10K and half marathon runs and a 1 mile swim in Strathclyde Park. They have held a launch night, a ladies night, an auction night, a Bras and Boxers Band Night and finally a bag packing weekend at Sainsbury's.

Jacqueline and Christine, the pair who started it all said, "It's been a long hard slog, but a lot of fun and we have made many friends and blisters along the way!

"We couldn't have done this without the help and support of everybody. The people who made the effort to run, walk, sponsor, swim, bid, bagpack . The people and businesses that gave their goods and services so generously. Thank you one and all, you made it happen."
