With their musical and colourful production featuring the red and white chess pieces, Humpty Dumpty and, of course, Tweedledum and Tweedledee, the young performers delighted audiences of family and friends.

Ashley Snaddon charmed the audience with her portrayal of Alice while the effervescent Lois Wright and Matthew Allison kept them laughing as Tweedledee and Tweedledum. Shannon Gilchrist's White Knight entertained with tales of Jabberwock and Slithey Toves while the Red Knight, played by Louise Russell, terrorised the chessboard.

The sleepwalking Red King was played by Caitlin Allen and the Red Queen by Eden Morrison. The White King and Queen were Sarah Allison and Chloe Hume. Humpty Dumpty was played by Stewarton's Corsehill Queen, Rachael Halliday, the Hare by Lisa Costigan and the Mad Hatter by Rebecca Welsh. The train guard on the Looking Glass Express was Nathanael Kelly.

A chorus of flowers, passengers and pawns were played by Jennifer Abercrombie, Natasha Allen, Ross Davidson, Iona MacLeod, Sophie Moore, Lorna Smith, Milly Stickland and Alice Welsh.

Producer, Naomi Allison, was delighted with the music and drama class who worked hard all term learning lines, songs and moves at rehearsals each Friday afternoon and pulled off a first class performance.

She would like to thank everyone who helped make the production a success - in particular Maureen Rodgers (stage manager, properties mistress, etc.), Linette Penney (scenery), Lydia Breaks (sound, wardrobe assistant) and Martin Ritchie (lighting). Also, Katie Purvis and Margaret Stanulis who helped out with the myriad of costume making and Jim, the Area Centre janitor, who helped make the evening run so smoothly.

The next Music Box productions take place during the summer holidays as the culmination of two weeks of drama workshops. There are still places available on these projects but booking should be made before 27 June in order to guarantee a place.

The senior drama week runs from Monday 13 to Friday 17 July for young people aged 10 and up. At the end of the week the youngsters will perform "Pinafore Pirates" a musical comedy by Malcom Sircom in the style of Gilbert and Sullivan. The Music Box is delighted to announce that they have secured a booking at the Area Centre for the two performances of this show.

The junior drama week runs from Monday 20 to Friday 24 July for children from primary 1 to primary 5. Their project - a production of The Lemonade Kid - will be performed at the drama group premises on Friday 24 July.
