Alice the Musical Review - 19 Jun 2010
The Music Box Primary Class Production
The Music Box Primary Class performed "Alice the Musical" by Mark and Helen Johnson to an audience of family and friends on Friday 18 June.

The children, aged 5 to 11 years, put on a terrific show with some great acting and some fun songs and dances.

Jenny Morton delighted the audience with her portrayal of Alice and did a terrific job of learning all her lines and songs. The White Rabbit, Isla Kerr, was delightful. The Queen of Hearts, played by Christina Ritchie, also made a real impact and was well supported by the King of Hearts, Ewan Williamson, and the Knave of Hearts, Callum Dowden.
At the Mad Hatter's Tea Party the sleepy Dormouse was played by Blake Hannah and the March Hare by Jessica Williamson who both did a terrific job. The Mad Hatter, Hannah Reid was excellent and clearly enjoyed singing 'Mad as Hatter'.
The Caterpillar - a very challenging role with words to be spoken in strict time to a musical accompaniment - was played by Morgan Hannah who rose to the challenge and gave an excellent performance.
All the children clearly enjoyed the Caucus Race with Dodo (Callum Ritchie), Lory (Oliver Dowden) and Mouse (Blake Hannah) putting in pleasing cameo performances.
Other pleasing cameo performances came from the gardeners, Teagan Neish, Ella Smith and Kathryn Ritchie.
Ella Smith was word perfect in her portrayal of the Mock Turtle and did a great job of leading the 'Lobster Quadrille'. While stage fright got the better of the Cheshire Cat on the day, Sophie Gillies-Craig did a great job with her chorus work (and had been a terrific Cheshire Cat in all the rehearsals!).
Naomi Allison was assisted in the production by Maureen Rodgers and Lydia Breaks.
The scenery was painted by local artist, Linette Penney, from Penney Lane Studios.
You can see more photos from the production in the Music Box online photoalbum.
