Christmas is fast approaching and Stewarton Drama Group are delighted to present their 37th annual pantomime - ‘Jack and the Beanstalk', an original pantomime written and directed by Group member Nancy McPherson.

The colourful show will be presented in the theatre in the Stewarton Area Centre every night at 7.30pm from Tuesday 7th December until Saturday 11th December. And in response to audience feedback over the last few years the Group will once again present a matinee performance of the pantomime on Saturday 11th December at 2.00pm, ideally suited for all the youngest panto go-ers.

This year's show has something for everyone and features a wonderful selection of traditional panto characters guaranteed to keep the audience entertained.

This year's panto hero Jack, (Laura McPherson), will need to have his wits about him as he endeavours to fight off baddie Butcher Bonecruncher (Sam Alcroft) who has hatched an evil plan, with a little help from his sidekick Basher the Tattie Masher (Craig McLaughlan), to capture Jack's true love Jill Genteel (Michelle Barnett) and put her on the menu for Giant Guzzle's (Robin McKie) dinner.

Helping Jack save the day are his mother, the hilarious panto dame Clootie Dumpling (Johnnie McPherson), his silly brother Pimple Dumpling (Brian Smith) and his ditsy sister Dimple Dumpling (Caren McLean).

Lots of laughs are guaranteed courtesy of the comedy escapades of the two Fairy ‘Mulkmaids' Hairy Hulk & Dairy Mulk (Linda Wilson & Christine Collins) and the perma-tanned tough guys Frankie Fakebake & Permatan Peem (John Allardice & David Robertson).

Adding to the fun are Farquahar Snot (Ryan Lynch) who has designs on Jill, Facia Hoarse (Fiona Gordon) who is upwardly mobile, and Jill's father Baron Boggin-Bogle (Roy Graham). Add to this mix everyone's favourite character the panto cow, Cuddle the Coo (Jennifer Cunningham & Alison Barr) and you've got the picture!

Also, back by popular demand after last year's panto, are the fabulous Junior Chorus, aged from 7 to 11, who will once again perform a number of song and dance routines throughout the show.

Under the direction of musical director Ewan Mains and his fabulous live band the audience will be treated to a range of specially selected songs, including traditional favourites and one or two surprises!

Tickets for the show, priced at £7 full price, and £5 concession, can be reserved NOW by  emailing Stewarton Drama Group or alternatively, tickets will be on sale every day at Stewarton Library from Monday 11th October. There is also a special block booking offer of Buy 10 Tickets, Get One Free.

A selection of juice, crisps, magic beans and glo-sticks will be on sale during the interval.

Group President, and author and director of the show, Nancy McPherson said:

"This has been a great season for Stewarton Drama Group so far - we opened our season in August with a massive publicity drive for new members and patrons, and we're absolutely delighted that many of our talented new members will now be treading the boards for the first time in Stewarton in this year's pantomime.

"Three performances of last year's pantomime were sold out by the middle of November ......so make sure you get your tickets fast this year and don't miss your chance to reserve your seat and come along and join in the fun in true panto style cheering for the goodies and booing at the baddies !"
