The Cast of Allo Allo

The award-winning Stewarton Drama Group are all set to bring the stage version of the hugely popular BBC one sit-com "ALLO ALLO" to Stewarton this Spring!

This long-running comedy series, written by Jeremy Lloyd and David Croft, starring Gordon Kaye, Carmen Silvera and Vicki Michelle, has retained a huge following since it's 10 year run, broadcast on BBC 1 between 1982 and 1992, clocking up a total of 9 series and 85 episodes.

Tickets are expected to sell out fast for the hit show which will be presented in the theatre in the Stewarton Area Centre at 7.30pm on THURSDAY 27TH, FRIDAY 28TH & SATURDAY 29TH MAY 2010.

The lead character of hapless café owner, Rene will be played for the Stewarton group by David Robertson. Rene is the most wanted man in Nazi Occupied France: Women want his body; The Resistance wants his brain; and the Nazis want his sausage!

It is I, Leclerc

The stage version follows the adventures of Rene, as he and his wife Edith (Debbie Darby) struggle to keep for themselves a priceless portrait, of the famous "Fallen Madonna with the Big Boobies", which they are hiding in a sausage in their cellar.

The painting was stolen by German Colonel Von Strohm (Roy Graham), and now he and his side-kick Italian Captain Alberto Bertorelli (Jim Goldie) plan to sell it after the war for his retirement.

Unfortunately, Hitler also wants the painting and has sent Gestapo agent Otto Flick (Craig McLaughlan) and his accomplice Helga (Cheryl Scott) to find it. As the plot builds, it is revealed that General Von Schmelling (Ann Burley) is equally determined to get his own hands on the painting.

As if this wasn't enough, Rene is also risking his neck by hiding two escaped British Airmen (Janet Robertson and Alison Barr) and is endeavouring, with the help of the Resistance, to repatriate them home.

The French Resistance, led by Michelle, (Michelle Barnett) fondly remembered by fans of the series for her iconic catchphrase: "Listen very carefully, I shall say zis only once", assisted by the bumbling Leclerc (Fiona Rowley), continually force Rene into aiding their persistent attempts to return the two airmen to Britain.

However, communications with London through a radio disguised a cockatoo add to the many embarrassments Rene endures, when all he really wants is enough peace and quiet to run his cafe and "'ave it off" with his two sexy waitresses, Yvette (Laura McPherson) and Mimi (Elaine Harris), without his wife catching him out.

Throw into the mix, Crabtree (Johnnie McPherson) an Englishman disguised as a French policeman, who adds to the confusion with his serial mispronunciations, including his now infamous greeting of: "Good Moaning", and the camp Lieutenant Gruber (Walter Findlay) who has developed a very obvious crush on Rene, and Rene really is facing a recipe for disaster.

Matters come to a head with the news that the Fuhrer is to visit the town and the café becomes filled with tricksters intending to impersonate Hitler before the event. Rene will need all the wit he can muster to save his café, and his life......!

Director of the show, John Allardice said:

"If you only see one show this year.....MAKE IT THIS ONE !! We can guarantee that the audience are in for a real treat !!"

The evening will include a 20 minute interval, during which a licensed bar will be on sale.

All tickets for the show are priced at £7.00 each - which includes a complimentary glass of wine on arrival - and are on sale now at Stewarton Library and Candy Chace in the town's High Street.
